DENTAL IMPLANTS IMPROVE QUALITY OF LIFE AND HEALTH

August, 2003 -- For years dentists have endeavored to find a more natural replacement for missing teeth. Thanks to modern space age materials combined with years of research and clinical trials, the dental implant of today is truly the most natural solution for people who have missing teeth.

"Clearly dental implants are one of the finest treatment options we have to offer in the field of Dentistry," said Richard Kraut, DDS., Chairman, Department of Dentistry at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. "With their ability to improve the quality of life and health, it's easy to understand why dental implants have become the accepted alternative to traditional methods of replacing missing teeth."

There are two types of dental implants, those that sit on top of the jawbone but under the gums, and those that fit into the jawbone similar to the root of a natural tooth. Each type offers solid non-mobile support for replacement teeth which act and feel like natural teeth.

Advantages of Dental Implants

Clinically proven with a success rate in excess of 90%, dental implants restore proper chewing function so foods previously too "difficult" to eat can once again be enjoyed, and as replacement teeth they do not move or loosen. Dental implants provide the closest thing to the look, feel and function of natural teeth, adhesives are not needed. Implants eliminate irritated and painful gums and help stop the progressive bone loss and shrinkage of the jawbone by "mimicking" the roots of natural teeth. Speech is also improved by eliminating or reducing the "fullness" of full or partial dentures.
